FM approval for FireDos high expansion systems
FireDos fire protection proportional positive displacement water driven foam dosing pumps.
The FireDos foam dosing pumps we supply into the South African market have been FM approved since September 2009.
The initial FM approval was only for low expansion foam systems as, and I quote directly out of the approval letter from FM Global, "FM approvals has only approved high expansion foam systems using mixing ratios of 1,5% and 2%".
The FM test procedure has now changed and we are happy and proud to announce that all FireDos foam dosing pumps ranging from the FD500 through to the FD20000 foam pump are FM approved for low expansion and high expansion foam systems.

Cabinet Mount FireDos foam system for rapid attack intervention
DoseTech announces:
As a company that pride themselves on innovation FireDos have been exploring a rapid attack foam system that can be used for factories with general risk areas and 1 or 2 high risk areas.
This has brought about the birth of the 'Rapid Attack Foam Cabinet' that can be wall mounted or supplied with a ground mount stand.
The unit is supplied in either 10 or 16 bar option with a flow rate of 130 L/min and layflat or hose reel options can be selected. Any of the Akron range of nozzles can be selected for end of line with popular choices including the Turbojet multiple flow, Assault single flow and Saberjet multipurpose nozzles.
The foam concentrate store can be a 25L or 60L drum and foam flow is instantaneous once the flow on the nozzle is actuated.
The FD130 FireDos built into the cabinet is a positive displacement pump with either a 1% or 3% dosing valve or the option of an adjustable 0,3 - 3% dosing valve.
A bypass valve is also provided enabling water only flow through the nozzle.
Good applications would be refinery production areas, tanker loading bays, helipad protection, aircraft hangers, tunnel protection, warehousing, workshops and small fuel storage depots or service courts, to name a few.
Below are some photos of the cabinet design and the available nozzle options.

Akron Ozzie 911 Monitors repaired for Chevron
In October 2010 we received 8 mobile Akron monitors, self oscillating units, from the Cape Town Chevron Refinery for a good old service and repair, if needed.
We were fortunate to have Paul Brebner, Akron Regional Sales Director for Europe, Middle East and Africa, with us in South Africa at the time for some additional product training. Paul gave expert training on how to repair and re assemble the Ozzie monitors as well as the Akron range of hand held nozzles.
Inspection of the units showed that they'd been in service for some time but gave no accurate indication as to their age so we did some digging and found that these monitors had been supplied in November 1992.
This was their first service in 18 years!
The parts required for the total repair of the units was minimal, mostly seals.
For us the most surprising part of this repair was that the total repair cost of the 8 Ozzie monitors came to less than what you would pay for 1 new mobile monitor, giving us further confidence in the quality of Akron products.
The post repair site test was done at the Chevron Refinery early in December. To view the flow test video go to http://www.youtube.com/user/dosetech1#p/a/u/0/WtGkgq-cElY
